Going to the Chapel

Travis and I are getting very excited for the wedding on August 17th. We are looking forward to seeing everyone that is able to make it - and, we are going to miss all of those who aren't able to attend. Thank you to everyone for all of the well wishes.

Planning a wedding certainly isn't an easy job, but, I think that we are going to pull it all together. Espeically with everyone's help!!! THANK YOU!!

Wedding Presents

Many of you have asked Travis and I where we have registered for wedding presents. So, here is the answer for everyone. Travis and I have not registered anywhere.

In lieu of presents Travis and I would like everyone to consider making a donation to Tyler O'Neil. While there are many worthy causes that need donations Travis and I have been particularly struck by Tyler's story.
Tyler O'Neil is a 2 1/2 year old boy who was recently orphaned after he and his family were involved in a horrible car accident. Tyler's mother, father and 4 year old brother all died in the accident. This accident happened in Denver and there have been a few news stories about Tyler and his slow recovery from this tragic event. One of the stories indicated that a foundation had been created for Tyler. Travis and I have never met Tyler - but, our thoughts and prayers are with him.

Countdown

We have a date for the wedding - August 17, 2007. We are getting married outside at the Four Mile Historic Park. Here is a photograph of the location -


The reception will be held after the wedding at a different location. So, right now the countdown is on for us to complete all the details for the wedding!! Wish us luck.

One thing I have learned during this process is that all of the venues that we have visited for the ceremony and reception have been very helpful and have agreed to hold dates for us without taking any deposits!! This is extremely helpful since I think that Travis and I have changed our minds almost a dozen times.

First Day of Planning

Yesterday was our first day of planning the wedding. I think that we have decided on the reception but that is TOP SECRET.

So, instead I will tell you about our first attempts at finding a location. Travis and I talked about having the ceremony outside. So, one of our ideas was the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. We all packed into the car (Travis, Sommer, Henry, Grandma Cathy and Grandpa John) and headed down to Colorado Springs. We we arrived at the park Travis got a map that showed all of the wedding locations. We started to drive around to each one and quickly realized that it wasn't what we had in mind. I am sure that some people have beautiful weddings at the Garden of the Gods but Travis and I decided we didn't want to get married in a parking lot. And, Travis noticed that they don't allow alcohol in the park. Needless to say we are still looking for a location.

And, I know everyone is waiting for the date - Keep checking back - We should have a date in the next day or two.
